This Star of David necklace, which is entirely handmade by Neta, is a great example. This unique necklace is sterling sliver set with semi-precious stones. These stones carry significance in Jewish traditions. Known as Hooshen stones, they are set according to an exact description in the Bible. Each stone stands for one of the twelve tribes of Israel, just like the high priests of the Israelites who wore an amulet with powerful stones.
The high priests, the Kohanim, who served God in the Tabernacle in the Sinai desert and at the temple in Jerusalem, wore a special breastplate, inserted with Choshen stones. According to the book of Exodus, the precious stones on the breastplate of the High Priest were engraved with the Hebrew names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
